Today we bring you an episode from the wild, with all the audio issues that are part of a recording in windy Copenhagen. That's right, with only slightly more than a year's delay you have the pleasure of listening to our review of AOM 2025, our first conference together as newly minted Assistant Professors. What we will discuss:

  • How have things changed at conferences as an Assistant Professor compared to being a Post Doc or PhD student
  • Why organize, rather than attend, a session at a conference?
  • What is the value of the non-academic portion of conferences?

Again, we apologize profusely for the worse-than-usual sound quality and promise to do better in the future.

* Co-hosts:*

This episode was recorded live from the Bella Center somewhere near Copenhagen

Music for the intro and outro by our own Philipp Becker

Ad music was provided by: Blue Dot Session

This episode was recorded and produced by: Alexander Staub

This episode was NOT brought to you by Espresso House Copenhagen - especially because they no longer carry Vanilla buns

If you enjoy what we do, we ask nothing more of you than a short and sweet review on your podcast player of choice. If you really want to support us, you can make your way over to Apple Podcasts and leave a written Review. These small gestures of appreciation mean the world to us and allow others to find our Podcast.

About this podcast

In the podcast "Reject and Resubmit: The Assist.Prof Podcast" (formerly Desk Reject: der PhD-Cast"), Alexander, Philipp, and Marco share their experiences as Assistant Professors in Business, Economics and Information Systems at different universities across Europe. The goal is not necessarily to inform, but to offer a candid lens into the joys and struggles of three junior scholars trying to find their way in the jungle of academia. We hope you accompany us on this journey and maybe even learn a thing or two (but don't count on it).

In each episode, the hosts prepare a discussion topic in one of the following categories: academic life, theory and research, and work besides research.
